The new program:
6 brand new positions as part of the funding for Education Support for Children in Care recently announced. Lost educational opportunities have a cumulative effect on the lives of children in care – limiting their future opportunities and perpetuating the disadvantage they face over time. This program will provide a trauma-informed approach to re-engaging these students in learning, with continued and consistent support. The program replicates AV's evidence-based and award-winning TEACHaR program

The Position:
This role provides qualified teachers the opportunity to provide one on one teaching to vulnerable young people residing in residential care and out of home care to re-engage with education, improving attendance and retention. Improving the life outcomes for young people through education. You will be required to implement tailored educational programs to meet the individual needs of the young people. This includes providing intensive teaching in literacy and numeracy to enable the young people to reach their true potential.
You will be working closely with the young person’s Care Team which may include carers, case managers, school staff and other professionals.
Who are we looking for?
A tertiary qualification in Education, current FULL VIT registration and a minimum of 4 years teaching experience.
The ability to develop and implement individual learning plans for children and young people who have experienced significant educational disruption and who present with complex psychological and social needs.
Demonstrated experience in working with children and young people with complex needs, understanding how trauma affects learning.
An ability to use educational assessment tools and data to inform planning and practice.
The ability to thrive in a changing environment with competing priorities, to manage stressful situations, monitoring own stress levels and practising and promoting self-care strategies.

We have flexibility to consider part time work, 0.6 through to full time.
And you get 7 weeks paid leave! 1 week at each Term 1 2 & 3 school holidays and 4 weeks at Christmas holidays.
Ideal start dates Term 4 October 7th, but we are flexible to meet your needs.
