Job Summary
The Team
The provincial Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) practice consultant team is a small but dynamic and impactful team that works independently, yet collaboratively, supporting the large network of practitioners and team leaders within the province. This position will primarily support practitioners in the Northern Service Delivery Area. Through consultation, training, and mentoring activities, CYMH provincial practice consultants influence clinical practice with children, youth and their families who access CYMH services.

The Role
In this pivotal role, you will provide mental health clinical consultation and support to colleagues in a wide range of serious and complex situations, primarily within the Northern Service Delivery Area. You will work alongside Child and Youth Mental Health practitioners, other provincial practice consultants, team leaders, Directors of Practice, and cross divisional colleagues. While responding to case specific consultation requests, you will also support capacity building by assisting in the development and provision of training and learning opportunities to support best practice.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Licensed to practice nursing under the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a field relevant to the position, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a practicing clinician in Child and Youth Mental Health.
Experience in program and policy development.
Experience providing training and group facilitation.
Experience establishing relationships in the community.
Experience working with Indigenous Agencies, Indigenous service providers and/or Indigenous community members.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

Experience mentoring staff.
Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.


Additional Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e., from another Canadian Province).


Willingness Statements:

Travel, as necessary, is a requirement; therefore, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Ministry.
May be required to travel in adverse (reasonable) weather conditions.
May be required to use your own vehicle, with appropriate insurance, on an expense account basis.
This position requires irregular work hours, including some evenings and weekends.

While this position can be based in any Ministry of Children & Family Development office, this position will primarily serve communities in Northern BC (for example; Terrace, Dawson Creek and Quesnel). The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 2 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.

An eligibility list may be established to fill both temporary and permanent vacancies in any Ministry of Children and Family Development office throughout the province.
