Description
We are looking for a diligent Staff Accountant to join our team in the Professional Services industry. Based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, this role will be instrumental in handling all aspects of accounting within our local office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a full cycle of accounting duties, which includes month-end close, as well as A/P, A/R, and G/L reconciliations.
Responsibilities
• Oversee all aspects of accounting operations in the local office.
• Manage full cycle of accounting tasks, including month-end close procedures.
• Handle accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) operations.
• Perform general ledger (G/L) reconciliations.
• Utilize MS Excel and various ERP packages (Oracle, MAS 90, MAS 200, or Timberline) for accounting tasks.
• Engage in fixed asset and financial statement management.
• Participate in mergers, acquisitions, and divestiture activities.
• Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
• Collaborate with other team members to support overall goals and objectives.
• Handle ad-hoc assignments as necessary.

Requirements
• 4 year accounting degree requried, CPA candidate preferred
• Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role or internship, preferably within the professional services industry
• Proficiency in MS Excel including pivot tables, vlookups, and other advanced functions
• Experience with fixed assets accounting, including depreciation and disposal of assets
• Knowledge and understanding of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, and their impact on financial statements
• Proven ability in handling month-end close procedures, including account reconciliations and financial reporting
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial data
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to resolve accounting issues.
