General Responsibilities:
Provide personalized learning that supports each student, more specifically special needs students, in achieving their potential. Experience working and formulating IEPs, for neurodivergent children, and other behavior or learning disorders. Engage oneself in professional growth and fulfills professional responsibilities. The position also assists in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help and behavior management. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
• Requires knowledge of child growth and development, group interaction, health, safety, and first-aid methods.
• Required to attend to children with various levels of mental and physical disabilities.
• Knowledge of "best practice" in teaching and of the developmental characteristics of students at the designated grade level.
• Ability to provide effective instruction to meet individualized student needs relative to standards.
• Ability to work with physically impaired and special needs students on a daily basis.
• Performs designated learning tasks with students such as demonstrating or explaining lessons, prompting student participation, monitoring, and assisting with other instructional tasks.
• Able to react quickly and calmly when an emergency arises.
• Extensive knowledge of IEP procedures.
• Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
• Ability to organize and think clearly while communicating, and evaluating.
• Performs a wide variety of monitoring, record-keeping, and file maintenance for an accelerated learning program.
Working Conditions:
• The majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
• Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and emergency situations.
• Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement.
• Ability to work while standing, moving, and/or walking.
• Frequent meetings with the parents for updating the child’s well-being and progress
