Responsibilities
This role is newly created due to growth, and will be responsible for supporting the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of retail and mixed-use properties, including month-end close entries, cash reporting, fixed assets, general ledger maintenance, and assisting with external auditors for year-end audit
Responsible for preparation and review of financial statements for assigned portfolio of properties
Prepare month-end journal entries, record monthly adjusting and accrual entries
Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and posted in the accounting system
Prepare lender draw packages, ensuring compliance with loan requirements
Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts on a regular basis
Prepare monthly and quarterly complex distribution schedules and portfolio distribution schedules
Monitor cash balances, capitals calls and distributions for investors
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all properties
Prepare monthly financial statement analysis according to US GAAP
Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts on a regular basis
Monitor and report on property cash flows and performance
Provide financial analysis and support to property management team
Prepare Accounting Assumptions for Insurance, Real Estate taxes, Accounting Fees, Escrows & Reserves and Loan Amortization schedule in annual budget process
Assist with year-end annual audit and tax return preparation

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Property Accountant with a growing Real Estate Development Firm based here in the Northern Virginia area. Preferred Qualifications:

• Public accounting experience (audit, assurance, tax)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Yardi or MRI software experience preferred
