Job description
We are offering an opportunity for a Senior Accountant specializing in Lease and Property Accounting in Kent, Washington. The role includes managing accounting functions related to building maintenance, insurance claims, leases, rents, and tenant improvements. The prospective hire will collaborate with the finance team, handle Accounts Payable functions as needed, and maintain financial statements, budgeting and forecasting models. Responsibilities:
• Facilitate invoice reconciliations related to building maintenance, utilities, common area, tax, insurance, claims, leases, rents, additional rents, and other property-related expenses.
• Oversee building construction budget, tenant improvement collection, and construction asset management.
• Manage certificates of insurance for multiple properties, landlords, and brokers.
• Maintain and update monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgeting and forecasting models.
• Provide back-up support and perform duties of Accounts Payable functions as needed.
• Manage all aspects of leases and assist with asset reconciliation and personal property taxes.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Controller and Finance team, including training, employee development, and oversight of day-to-day activities.
• Exhibit team building and interpersonal skills by maintaining positive, collaborative, and constructive interpersonal relationships.
• Assess internal controls, including risk assessments and review areas of risk, implement operational best practices and develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating the year-end close process with internal and external auditors.
• Prioritize work assignments to meet productivity and quality standards.
• Take on other special projects or duties as assigned.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000. Benefits offered with this position include Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance, 401k with a match, 15 days of PTO/Sick in the first year, 9 paid holidays, and profit share potential, along with a flexible hybrid schedule (3 days per week at home).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in Auditing, Lease Accounting, and Property Accounting.
• Familiarity with ASC 842 regulations.
• Proficiency in Accounting Functions including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Accrual Accounting.
• Expertise in managing the General Ledger.
• Ability to handle Month End Close tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
• Advanced interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with other finance team members and stakeholders.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are preferred.
• Proven analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and legislation.
• Adaptability to new tools and software as required by the job.
