Job description, work day and responsibilities
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Editor to lead our Storybank team. The Senior Editor will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Storybank, developing content strategies, editing and curating content, and ensuring effective content dissemination across various channels. This role requires strong leadership skills, a keen editorial eye, and excellent communication abilities to meet the needs of both the Storybank team and other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-Day Team & Storybank Management:
● Oversee the daily operations of the Storybank team, ensuring efficient workflow and timely delivery of content.
● Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members to foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
● Manage the collection, organization, and maintenance of the Storybank to ensure it remains a valuable resource for the organization.
Content Strategy:
● Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with Jaipur Rugs’ mission and goals.
● Identify key themes, topics, and stories that resonate with our audience and support our brand narrative.
● Collaborate with marketing, sales, and other departments to align content strategy with organizational objectives.
Editing:
● Review, edit, and approve content produced by the Storybank team to ensure it meets high standards of quality, accuracy, and consistency.
● Provide constructive feedback to writers and content creators to enhance their skills and improve overall content quality.
● Ensure all content aligns with Jaipur Rugs’ tone, style, and brand guidelines. Content Dissemination:
● Develop and execute plans for effective content dissemination across various platforms, including social media, blogs, newsletters, and internal communications.
● Collaborate with the marketing team to maximize the reach and impact of our stories.
● Monitor and analyze content performance to refine dissemination strategies and improve engagement.
Communication & Need Assessment for Storybank Team & Other Departments:
● Act as a liaison between the Storybank team and other departments to understand their content needs and priorities.
● Conduct regular assessments to identify content gaps and opportunities for new storytelling initiatives.
● Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across teams to ensure content aligns with organizational goals and departmental requirements.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus. ● Minimum of 5 years of experience in editorial roles, with a proven track record in content strategy and team management.
● Experience of leading a team of 5+ people in an editorial role.
● Experience of working with a not-for-profit or a news agency.
Skills:
● Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
● Strong leadership and team management abilities.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to develop and implement effective content strategies.
● Proficiency in content management systems and digital publishing tools.
● Strong organizational and project management skills. Language: Proficiency in English and Hindi. Knowledge of regional languages is a plus
