Job Title: Part-Time Accountant
Job Overview: As a part-time accountant, you will be responsible for assisting with various financial tasks and supporting our financial operations. You will work closely with the Controller to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities: Assisting with the following tasks
Bookkeeping:
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions using accounting software (Unanet, BQE).
• Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
• Process payroll entries.
• Reconcile bank statements and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of payroll transactions.
• Perform month-end audits.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Verify discrepancies and resolve billing issues with vendors and clients.
• Ensure timely payments to vendors and invoicing to clients.
Financial Reporting:
• Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support the Controller during internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
• Assist in the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated with changes in tax laws and financial regulations that may impact the organization.
General Administrative Support:
• Assist with other accounting projects and administrative tasks as needed.
• Provide support to other departments with financial information and analysis.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Proven experience as an accountant or similar role (minimum 2 years preferred), within AEC industry is a plus.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Unanet, BQE preferred) and MS Office (especially Excel).
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, especially related to payroll entries.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a relevant field is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
• Part-time hours (e.g., 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, 20-30 hours per week), flexible schedule.
• Work may be performed on-site or remotely depending on daily needs and workload.
