Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Medical Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Quality, the Medical Officer will oversee the Network Support Coordinators (NSCs) within the Quality Department and serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all clinical-related matters. In this role, you will be responsible for training network examiners on the completion of Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs), fostering and maintaining professional relationships with our network examiner partners, and collaborating with various departments across VBG to ensure that technical directions are thoroughly vetted through a licensed professional. The Medical Officer will also ensure compliance with all safety standards and healthcare regulations, including those set forth by the United States Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). This role is pivotal in upholding our purpose, mission, and values as we strive for continuous improvement in guiding Veterans through their disability claims processes.
Requirements:
Essential Functions:
• Train network examiners on DBQ completion, standards, and VA expectations.
• Provide one-on-one support to network examiners through various communication methods, including text and email.
• Collaborate with the IT department to build macros, conditional logic, and other improvements to case management systems.
• Manage the NSCs, ensuring they provide top-tier service.
• Perform peer reviews on network examiners’ DBQs to ensure compliance with VA standards and maintain ethical medical practices.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
• Advanced degree from an accredited college/university in one’s field of practice (M.D., D.O., MSN, DNP, MPAS, or equivalent).
Certification(s) and Licensure:
• Must have an unrestricted active license as a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant in the continental United States.
• Must maintain licensure throughout the duration of employment with VBG.
Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience training examiners on DBQ completion and performing compensation and pension examinations on behalf of the VA or a third-party vendor.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience conducting compensation and pension examinations.
