Schedule: Full-time M – F, with occasional weekend work as needed
Compensation: $70,000 – 85,000/annually, depending on experience
Location: Remote (Midwest preferred)

Position Summary
The Inventory and Cost Accountant will be responsible for developing, implementing, and assisting in the management of production costs for the company, as well as evaluating related budget variances. This position will initiate efficient procedures to quickly resolve inventory variances and how they translate to actual production processes. The Inventory and Cost Accountant will provide product costing analysis that ensures sound business decisions.
Primary Responsibilities
• Plan, collect, and research data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
• Review and finalize all company work orders for accuracy
• Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
• Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures
• Maintain cost accounting within ERP system in terms of the standard costing process, as well as support for set standards
• Track capital expenditures to ensure adherence to company policy
• Assist in month end close of the General Ledger
• Conduct physical inventories and monitor cycle count program
• Maintain and audit inventory control procedures safeguarding company assets
• Reconcile monthly inventory sub ledger and substantiate variances
• Analyze and report on cost variances (PPV, Material Variances, Substitution Variances, etc.)
• Provide support for year-end and other 3rd party audits of our inventory including the identification of slow-moving and obsolete inventory, as well as make recommendations for the valuation and disposition of these items
• Assist with the budgeting process for cost and product related valuations and estimates
• Partner with production/operations on explanations of variances and deviations of budget to actual results
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
• 3+ years of cost accounting in a food manufacturing environment required
• ERP systems experience required; experience with Sage a plus
• Strong to advanced Excel skills required
• Understanding of accounting principles, as well as standard product costing and profitability concepts in a manufacturing organization required
• Understanding of supply chain within a manufacturing environment required
• Collaborative self-starter who is self-motivated, analytically minded, and able to effectively partner cross-functionally with various team members on cost and inventory standards
• Able to travel to warehouse in Minneapolis area occasionally for inventory
Physical Requirements
• Able to sit at a desk and work at a computer for most of the day, standing as necessary
• Able to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary
