About the role:
We’re searching for a passionate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable HSEQ Advisor to be part of our ACT team in a permanent part-time role.
In this role, you will provide direct support, assistance and advisory services to the Hume operations site to ensure management and workers are aware of and operate within statutory HSEQ requirements, and to drive continuous improvement in H&S performance and outcomes.

You will have the following responsibilities:
Focused primarily on safety, you will provide HSEQ support, assistance and advise management and employees, helping to ensure effective risk management and continuous improvement of safety performance
Promote a positive HSEQ culture through positive reinforcement and recognition and displaying an ability to work alongside operations
Assist the site in demonstrating visible leadership and applying knowledge to reduce risk and prevent injury and illness
Aid site management detailing HSEQ improvements and corrective actions where applicable and providing functional support to help ensure implementation
Support sites in conducting incident investigations to determine root causes, contributing and latent factors and ensuring corrective actions lead toward a sustainable fix
Work with Site Management and our Workers Compensation specialist to help develop and review Return to Work Programs when required
Work with external parties such as Health and Safety Regulators on notifiable incidents and other applicable requirements
Provide support regarding the development of procedures, training materials and work instructions
Help prepare toolbox talk WHSE content in a timely fashion, including identification of relevant subject matter and inclusion of alerts and learnings
Help maintain certification to ISO 9000, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
Who you are:
You possess relevant tertiary qualifications in WHS or similar
You have at least 2 years’ practical experience in a Health & Safety / HSEQ position, working in blue collar, high-risk industry environments - experience working within the transport, resource recovery, reuse, waste management, treatment, and recycling is highly desirable
You like to take responsibility for your role, working autonomously
You have a positive, proactive and outgoing approach and a willingness to learn
Your comfortable working in a robust environment, where no two days are the same
You’re a strong communicator and able to influence key stakeholders, both internally and externally
You’re a strong team player
This role is permanent part-time, 22.8 hours per week, ideally working Mon-Fri (may be flexible) and also includes a fully paid company vehicle as “tool of trade”.
