Role Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, maintaining financial records, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for contributing to the growth of a startup in the healthcare technology sector. As a critical aspect of this role, maintaining strict confidentiality regarding company information, proprietary data, and sensitive client interactions is non-negotiable.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data.
General Ledger Management
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
Accounts Payable and Receivable
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Monitor and manage cash flow and collections.
Budgeting and Forecasting
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
• Track financial performance against budget and forecasts, identifying and explaining variances.
Tax Compliance
• Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
Audit and Internal Controls
• Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors.
• Develop and implement internal control policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Financial Analysis
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 1 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the healthcare or technology sector.
• Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
