We are looking for a Research Governance Associate to help us optimize and scale our growing need for Research Governance oversight in line with leading finance industry standards for fiduciary research oversight. We are a leading provider of ESG/Sustainable Investing data-driven investment solutions, and we are looking for a committed team member to help grow and maintain our research governance capabilities across a wide range of use cases. Using your knowledge of ESG research and data, governance processes and stakeholder relationship, you will curate OpenInvest’s research governance capabilities, routinely shepherd OpenInvest Research solutions through relevant OI and JPM Governance processes, provide input to needed governance technology tool requirements and communicate governance trends to a cross-functional audience of research, engineering, marketing, sales enablement, product and legal, risk, compliance and controls stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
Work directly with the Head of OpenInvest Research and Senior Business Management to execute standardized sustainable investing/ESG research governance processes, including methodology vetting and presentation development for a wide range of stakeholders.
Support the maintenance of existing sustainable investing/ESG solutions offered by OpenInvest research to ensure agreed methodologies continue to achieve their intended objectives.
Support the advancement of new and existing OpenInvest Research solutions through established oversight and Governance frameworks, often working with tight deadlines, competing priorities and conflicting stakeholder feedback.
Advise and provide support to OpenInvest Research Senior Leadership for a wide range of research governance initiatives, including but not limited to market assessment of sustainable investing/ESG trends for product development, evaluation of market and novel data sets to create methodology for new solutions.
Partner with engineering resources to implement new research methodologies into the OpenInvest ESG database, ensuring accuracy of methodology in technical terms and running pre- and post-code execution checks to ensure accurate methodological outcomes.
Maintain the documentation of OpenInvest Research solutions, ensuring real-time feedback is incorporated into primary and ancillary documentation to create a complete and accurate representation of the intended Research methodology.
Provide support as a centralizing and neutral force across the OpenInvest Research team and other OpenInvest Functions, helping to translate research needs, support with transformation projects, and technology rollouts.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
5 to 8 years of experience in research governance functions and working with a cross section of functional stakeholders, preferably with a background in ESG/Sustainable Investing.
Experience with common research governance frameworks, including legal, risk, compliance, controls reviews, while also being familiar with common research governance tools and tracking mechanisms, such as Excel and/or MS Project.
Experience presenting research governance business cases for high profile and complex projects to various stakeholders with different levels of subject matter knowledge.
Excellent project management and organizational skills
Passion for ESG/Sustainable Investing issues and interest in a values-led approach to sustainable investing
Willingness to be proactive and vocal about business needs with a solutions-oriented mindset to solving complex methodology, technical and operational challenges.
Strong initiative, interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think creatively, while also being able to collaborate with others.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
3+ years of experience in ESG, Sustainability, SRI or Impact Investing Experience evaluating new data sets for suitability, especially in an ESG/Sustainability context
Research specialization/background in an area applicable to Sustainable Investing
Experience in ESG-focused education or communication efforts
Experience with Python
