De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited is focused on providing world-class aviation products and services in support of legendary Canadian aircraft. We are currently recruiting for a Director, Strategic Sourcing to join our Supply Chain leadership team in Calgary, AB.
Position Summary
As a senior leader within the Supply Chain Management and Logistics organization,this role will provide leadership in all aspects of De Havilland’s Strategic Sourcing. The successful candidate will be an effective leader, collaborator, and strategic thinker with the ability to align the business needs to supply chain strategy, focused on operational effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainable continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
This role will be accountable for the development of an overall strategic plan for Enterprise Strategic Sourcing with optimization programs focused in key areas and specific performance measures aligned to support business improvements. The utilization of lean best practices, service optimization, and value will be a critical and measurable success factor of this role. The Director, Strategic Sourcing will be responsible for developing and creating a high performing team that is highly skilled, diverse, and inclusive.
This position will require Enterprise level execution and sustainment of the following areas:
Sourcing Processes and Compliance
• Develop a Enterprise Sourcing policy with aligned and defined standards, process maps, and accountabilities.
• Create a compliance reporting methodology to drive desired outcomes and compliance for policies, internal control standards and business processes.
• Establish a New Product Introduction and organization absorption process.
• Implement a SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) program for critical suppliers.
• Implement a Contract Management System (CMS) throughout all units within De Havilland.
• Implement IFS (ERP) throughout all supply chain operations within De Havilland.
Category Management
• Provide guidance to procurement teams, ensuring supplier adherence to commitments and contractual obligations with respect to quality and performance are met.
• Centralize procurement data and develop supplier/category intelligence.
• Develop category specific sourcing strategies to optimize De Havilland’s supplier base addressing material availability, efficiencies, and cost.
• Develop optimal contracting strategy and supplier development/consolidation recommendations in support of business unit and corporate objectives.
• Lead strategic Enterprise-wide supplier negotiations (Master Service Agreements) and RFP processes as required to support material or service requirements, capture savings and deliver planned cost reduction targets across focus categories.
• Establish a flexible, standardized Supplier Business Review process for management of supplier spend, cost reduction targets, and scorecard metrics including on-time-delivery, product quality, capacity, security of supply and technology capability assessments.
• Collaborate with NPI / Engineering/ Technical services to provide continuous improvement for all SCM aspects of product lifecycle management and supplier quality.
• Collaborate closely with NPI / Engineering/ Technical services to maintain updated knowledge of future project needs to forecast and manage potential Supply Chain impacts and identify new supplier requirements in a timely manner.
• Monitor market trends to ensure supplier capacity, identify supply risks, and drive cost reduction opportunities.
• Liaise and coordinate supply activities across De Havilland, contributing to Enterprise-wide supply chain and supply base initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
• Lead the implementation of best practices related to Sourcing & Procurement.
• Evolve the organization to optimize resource effectiveness across Procurement and Contracting in support of Enterprise wide Direct and Indirect procurement needs and standardization initiatives.
• Establish strong consistent linkages with the materials management and NPI teams at all levels.
• Develop and implement employee training, development, and mentoring programs for Strategic Sourcing & Procurement teams.
• Build the framework and execute programs related to succession planning, personnel training, performance management, growth, and transition for all SCM contracting and procurement roles.
Business Reporting
• Establish monthly /quarterly updates on all key aspect of responsibilities defined above.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• University degree, graduate degree, or additional supply chain specific designation or MBA. Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
• Minimum 20+ years of experience across supply chain sourcing, contracting, procurement, strategic supplier management, manufacturing, and NPI within a commercial setting coupled with strong business acumen is required.
• Experience in leadership roles within the aerospace industry is required.
• Senior leadership experience at the Director or General Manager level, leading multiple levels of reports across geographies with a demonstrated track record of tangible results.
• Experience with the implementation of policy and governance.
• Experience with driving continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated experience in building high performing teams through employee engagement, development, training, and mentorship.
• Ability to develop and monitor budgets.
• International experience with supplier development and management.
Skills
• Willingness to adapt to changing business culture and corporate objectives.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and confidently deliver messages using simple language or to simplify complex messages.
