We are currently seeking a full time, fixed term staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.
The role
The Digital Communications Officer is responsible for ensuring that Council's digital channels enhance our communications and engagement with the community, staff and other relevant stakeholders.
The position plays a significant role in the Communications department and is required to support the continued growth of Brimbank's social and digital communications including through the development of engaging social media content, e-newsletters, video content, apps and other social media tools.
The position supports the Digital Communications Coordinator to continue to grow Council's digital reach through innovation and ongoing networking and research into new and emerging trends in social media engagement and customer service.
To be considered you will have:
Highly developed writing and editorial skills and excellent understanding of writing for digital.
Demonstrated understanding of best practice approaches in delivering effective social media marketing and community or customer interaction.
Working technical knowledge of programs such as Drupal, WordPress, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Social Media Account Management Software eg. Sprout Social, Google Analytics, Adobe Creative suite (preferred but not essential), Mailchimp.
Demonstrated ability in building social media campaigns
Experience in developing social media content for different audiences
Demonstrated awareness of developments in online technology and online service delivery, including content management systems and website design.
Understanding of content management systems and the ability to troubleshoot with developers.
Understanding of User Experience / Customer Experience principles including:
An understanding of users, what they need, what they value, their abilities, and also their limitations.
The ability to take into account the business goals and objectives of the organisation when designing a user experience.
Understanding of best practices that promote improving the quality of the user's interaction with and perceptions of Council's digital communication services.
Ability to produce documents such as processes, work instructions, roadmaps, flowcharts and project plans where required.
Photography/video production skills and familiarity with photo editing software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop) Local government experience is desirable
