Position Overview
Texas Water Utilities is seeking an entry level Capital Assets Accountant with a strong focus in fixed assets to support our Accounting team. This role will ensure that all fixed asset activity is accounted for accurately by identifying, properly depreciating, and maintaining fixed assets as well as accounting for a company's financial well-being maintaining strong internal controls to ensure integrity of data. In addition, this role will perform, analyze and review a wide variety of costs and charges to ensure compliance with established Company accounting procedures and reliable accounting practices.
What We Offer
• Salary Pay Range: $60,000 - $73,000

Work Location: Position is based out of our administrative office in Sugar Land, Texas. Potential for hybrid remote work is available.
What You'll Do
This position will be willing and able to perform the following duties and others as assigned:
• Monitor fixed asset activity, budget, capital asset, depreciation, expense reports and prepare balance sheet reconciliations
• Analyzing monthly operating results, explaining variances and assist in preparing monthly and annual regulatory reports
• Maintains file system of fixed asset records, analyze costs/charges and conducts records maintenance activities in compliance
• Completing additional projects as needed based on management requirements and prepare
• Identifying and reporting issues to the Accounting Manager or Supervisor
• Accounting for service orders and CWIP with proper cost classification
• Preparing and uploading journal entries for month-end close

What You'll Bring
• General knowledge of GAAP in order to appropriately maintain financial records is preferred
• Moderate to advanced knowledge of standard office spreadsheet, data and word processing programs
• Strong analytical skills, ability to use thinking and reasoning to effectively identify and solve water quality problems
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• SAP experience highly preferred
• Strong fixed asset experience
Education and Certifications
• Bachelor's Degree with major in Accounting or Business Administration required
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus
Work Experience
• Entry level up to 3 years
