Position Overview: We are looking for a Legal Associate to support our attorneys in civil, criminal, and corporate cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background, excellent research and writing skills, and a passion for advocating on behalf of clients. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to achieving successful outcomes for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues related to civil, criminal, and corporate law.
Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, motions, and contracts.
Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions.
Attend court hearings and trials to represent clients as needed.
Collaborate with senior attorneys and other legal professionals to develop case strategies and legal arguments.
Manage case files and maintain organized documentation.
Provide clients with legal advice and updates on their cases.
Participate in client meetings and strategy sessions.
Stay current on legal developments and changes in relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
Law Degree from a recognized law school (Preferably NLUs) .
Admission in State Bar or pending admission.
1-3 years of legal experience, preferably in civil, criminal, or corporate law.
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in legal research tools and software.

Position Summary:
The Legal function at SLGS India in 2019 embarked on its journey to establish itself as Legal Centre of Excellence, by establishing a specialized vertical named ‘Information Technology Contracting Centre (‘ITCC’)’ aimed at providing legal process oriented solutions to the Sun Life group. Over the expanse of 4 years, ITCC has been able to extend its expertise across business partners in Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Canada. Also, ITCC has embarked on its journey to include USA as well under its wings.
This role based within the ITCC vertical shall be responsible for the end to end contract review process of the business partners from the insurance industry across geographies mentioned above.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Draft, review, negotiate and interpret several types of contracts pertaining to insurance industry entailing distribution, marketing, outsourcing, consulting and strategy driven engagements including day to day commercial agreements with Sun Life clients for Pension and Benefits group, such as: master services agreements, IT security, data protection agreements and any other related documents.
• Draft, review and negotiate several types of contracts pertaining to insurance industry entailing distribution, marketing, outsourcing, consulting and strategy driven engagements.
• Assist senior level contracting professionals in managing complex transaction work within a fast moving corporate environment with strong knowledge on legal issues related to contracts.
• Working with teams and legal heads in Canada, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong and USA and create and maintain relationships with business partners and serve as the singular point of contact for matters concerning contracts.
• Maintain records for correspondence and documentation in relation to established contracts and those in progress.
• Monitor contracts and move forward with close-out, extension, or renewal keeping in mind Sun Life’s interests,
• Solve any contract-related problems that may arise with other parties and internally with the company itself.
• Structure client transactions to be most advantageous from a contracting and business perspective.
• Advise and consult company professionals based on accurate interpretation of contract documents and the facts of a business opportunity.
• Understanding of the statutory and regulatory framework for insurance and non insurance domain prevalent in India, Canada, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and USA.
• Support the development of internal guidelines, toolkits and packaged knowledge capital on various legal and business issues including reporting tools to identify trends and forecast work volume.
• Educate company professionals in regard to contracting and risk management issues.
• Represent the company’s interests and interface directly with client negotiating teams.
• Experience in handling contract management software.
• Track non- standard provisions and agreed to deliverables.
• Develop and maintain a process to work with the business when major incidents occur (privacy, security, system outages etc.) to provide detailed information on contractual commitments.
• Keep up to date with contract management best practices,
• Actively participate in project-based work and specialized projects.
