Responsibilities
The Application & Database Analyst is responsible for ensuring all aspects of Cavender’s Merchandise and Finance applications, and their respective databases and integrations, are running efficiently and effectively
Reporting directly to the Director of IT, Merchandise and Financial, this position will play a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our applications and data, and optimizing our database integrations between systems to meet our fast-growing business needs
Support the “Cavender’s Culture” and drive the Mission, Vision, and Values
Manage all aspects of the Merchandise and Finance applications, including daily incidents, break-fix, vendor management, and all integrations to other systems
Manage all aspects of application databases, including query and job optimization, health, data integrity, and scalability
Ensure databases are robust, secure, and compliant with industry standards
Build upon, optimize, and maintain our SQL knowledge base to ensure regular tasks can be automated or delegated to other IT resources
Quickly learn the key Merchandise and Finance applications at Cavender’s, and how they interact with the back-end databases and integration points between systems
Review current database automation and identify opportunities for improvement
Must be comfortable reverse-engineering SQL and other DB objects written by others
Develop and maintain major incident response plans
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to prevent production outages or business disruptions
Ensure compliance with latest security vulnerabilities and own the strategy to maintain compliance through up-to-date patching, coordinating with application and integration owners as needed
Prioritize requests from business partners and reconcile these with Cavender’s strategic vision
Build a secure database from business partners and reconcile these with Cavender’s strategic vision
Build a secure database and integration landscape that can scale, meeting the demands of a growing company

Qualifications and Requirements

Preferred Skills
• Merchandising systems and application knowledge, financial application knowledge (D365), Service based integration experience and knowledge (Logic App, Boomi, Azure Service Bus, Snowflake)
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), virtualization technologies, and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCNP, ITIL) preferred
• Experience working in a retail environment
