Accounting Specialist I

The Accounting Specialist I is part of a 6-person Accounting Department Team. Team members connect daily to support one another and cross train to cover vacations and assist one another during high demand and special projects. Together they support the financial management and operations of the Credit Union.
Function and Responsibilities
The Accounting Specialist I performs various accounting duties including transaction postings to the general ledger and member accounts, reconciliations, research, reporting and other miscellaneous responsibilities. The Accounting Specialist I assists teammates with various job functions and serves in a back up capacity when coverage is needed. All team members are expected to provide accounting and system support for all other departments.
Education & Experience
High School education or GED and One to three years of similar or related experience.
Interpersonal Skills
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication. Attention to detail and ability to manage time well are required to meet multiple processing deadlines. Good listening, telephone skills, and the ability to work well within a team are essential.

This department is located at our Operations Center in Scarborough, Maine.
