Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 DOE

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Accountant to join our team and contribute to the financial management and integrity of our organization.
Position Overview: As an Accountant at James Irwin Charter Schools, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing various accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. You will be responsible for processing general ledger entries, managing investment accounts, assisting with month-end close procedures, and supporting audits and financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
Manage and approve purchase orders in alignment with school budgets.
Maintain a continuous internal auditing program for all funds.
Prepare month-end close reports for all funds, including reviewing and posting appropriate journal entries.
Oversee and support reconciliations and audits of all cash receivables.
Provide guidance and training to support personnel on accounting software.
Reconcile investment and general fund accounts.
Assist with the preparation of audit and accrual entries for year-end closing and annual comprehensive financial report.
Act as a secondary liaison/resource for federal, state, and district audits and reviews.
Maintain accounting system by monitoring revenues and expenditures in all funds.
Oversee and assist in the preparation of various financial reports, including variance reports.
Stay updated on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements, and fiscal accounting best practices.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a school or educational setting.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, GASB, and fiscal accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
