Managing/Leading an Accounting Team w/Strong Interpersonal Skills & Exp. Improving Processes, Procedures & Efficiencies
7+ years’ full-charge accounting experience and a sound knowledge of GAAP. (Prior experience with a professional service firm is helpful but not required.)
3+ years of experience as an Accounting Manager
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (and that you’re friendly, professional, and approachable)
Highly organized and detail oriented
Demonstrated track record of process improvement
Experience in Sage 100 and QuickBooks (Desktop and Online) is helpful but not required
Willingness and ability to relocate to beautiful Cheyenne, WY if not already living here
Benefits

However, during the busiest month (January) and for some weeks in April, July and October, hours could be in the 50-55 hours/week range

Responsibilities
In this in-office role, the Accounting Manager will use his or her excellent interpersonal skills to manage, mentor and lead a team of six (6) employees, including an Accounting Supervisor in the Accounting Services Department
This department has dedicated employees with excellent tenure who do not need a micro-manager but instead someone to lead by improving processes, offering mentorship and training and further growth
This department is responsible for full-service bookkeeping, payroll processing, accounts payable, bank reconciliations and monthly financials
Sixty to seventy percent (60-70%) of the Accounting Manager’s time will be spent managing the department and working with staff to help them continue to improve and improving processes, procedures and creating efficiencies
Thirty to forty percent (30-40%) of the Accounting Manager’s time will be spent preparing and analyzing accrual basis financial statements and other hands-on accounting/finance-related work
Hours for this role will be mostly 40-45 hours/week year-round
This role must be done from Cheyenne, WY and while there is some flexibility, this is mainly an in-office role
Manage and supervise the day-to-day operations of the accounting services department, ensuring client deliverables are accurate and delivered within desired client timelines
Review reports and other client deliverables, including monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, with staff, and help staff continue to improve
Onboard and train new team members
Provide feedback, support, training and development opportunities to team members, including serving as a career advisor
Identify, recommend, and implement new products and/or revisions to departmental processes and procedures to support continual improvement and efficiency
Assist in scoping new client opportunities and subsequent onboarding
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; able to maintain accuracy in work products and multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Full cycle accounting responsibility for clients including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, check runs, expense reporting, fixed asset activity, payroll, and journal entries
Prepare and analyze accrual basis financial statements, providing proactive feedback and analysis on trends, areas of focus/importance, potential areas of concern, etc
Exercise judgment while ensuring that accounting conclusions are documented in reconciliations and technical memos in accordance with current policies and guidance
Experience with regulatory audits, such as sales tax, state unemployment, and workers’ compensation
Identify process improvements and efficiencies, embracing the technological advancements in this realm, and assist in growing this business niche
