Digital Equalizer is AIF's flagship education program. Since its inception in 2004, the Program has
empowered 5.4 million children with interactive STEM experiences, trained 182,025 teachers in
STEM pedagogy, and transformed 24,471 schools across 35 states and union territories of the
country. DE Program utilizes technology to bridge the educational and digital divide in India by
transforming under-resourced government schools into dynamic places to teach and learn through
collaborative, project-based learning and building 21stcentury skills amongst students, especially
girls.
ABOUT DIGITAL EQUALIZER
Digital Equalizer (DE) envisions a world where all children from under-served communities,
especially girls, are prepared for a career and life. The program is bridging India’s digital divide by
providing and integrating technology into underperforming, under-resourced public schools,
training teachers in techno-pedagogy and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics) methodology, and transforming classrooms into collaborative and interactive places
for students to learn while preparing them for success in the 21st century global economy. Since
its inception in 2004, the Program has empowered 5.4 million children with interactive STEM
experiences, trained 182,025 teachers in STEM pedagogy, and transformed 24,471 schools across
35 states and union territories of the country.
Objectives of the project:
Strengthen STEM school education in rural government schools.
Improve the performance of underprivileged girl students from government schools in
competitive exams.
Build the institutional capacity of 5 District Institute for Education Training (DIETs) on
STEM learning, techno-pedagogy, and preparation of students for the competitive exam
over 4.5 years.
Institutionalize best practices for sustainability through creation of a playbook in
partnership with the government and sharing evidence of the same.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Academic coordinator will be the key focal point of contact at the DIET for the knowledge
management and would report to the Project Lead.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Relationship/Team Management
Liaison and manage relationships with the DIET and Government Officials.
Devise strategies for rapid adoption and acceptance of programs among teachers and
principals under the DIET/other stakeholders.
Coordinate with internal teams of subject experts and academic lead to ensure smooth
program implementation.
Manage the master trainers and establish effective cascade model of DE program under
the DIET.
Create knowledge documents that improve program replicability.
Work closely with DIET faculty and teachers and support them in on ground
implementations.
Content Management:
Provide inputs to content development team for competitive exam preparations,
curriculum development.
Establish STEM incubation centre at DIET, STEM activities
Review of new content related to the program for inclusion/ expansion of the program.
Organize content as per the state syllabus to integrate PBL methods and hands on activities
in class room sessions
Be familiar with the question banks and assessment tools for grades 6-12
Have complete understanding of the complete model and content requirement.
Transact the curriculum as per the training schedule at DIET/cluster level.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual team reports as per the mandate of the
program/ donor requirement/s related to content usage.
Ensure maximum usage of STEM incubation centre, maintain logbooks and activity
tracker.
Ensure reporting timelines of organization and donor.
Create repository of content, monitor usage of online content relevant/ pertinent to the
program.
Any other reports required by the PL/ academic head/program team of DE/ Donor
related to content.
Capacity Enhancement:
Create training frameworks and schedules.
Map the syllabus with the STEM lab manipulatives and draw training plan.
Support/ facilitate/ conduct training sessions for data management for the team and
relevant stakeholders on content.
Create Training materials for teachers and students
Work on enhancing his/her academic and other capabilities by taking part in organization
driven initiatives as well making her/his own efforts, so that programme gets delivered in
best possible manner.
Others:
Maintain professional integrity and ethical conduct of always working.
Ensure alignment with organizational policies.
Ensure completion of any other organizational work assigned by SPM.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Post-graduation in STEM with minimum 3 years’ experience in large scale ed tech/ education
program – Content development/ Content expert in STEM Subjects
Experience in conducting centralized trainings for master trainers and teachers at DIET/cluster
level
Experience in conducting STEM related trainings for teachers and students
Skills and Competencies:
Possesses a variety of skills –program management, multi-tasking, time management,
flexibility, and adaptability.
Good communication skills in English and Hindi – both written and verbal.
Good problem solver.
Ability to work in the field, with communities, and in multi-stakeholder processes.
Readiness to travel and commit to demanding program requirements.
Responds positively to feedback and respects diverse point of views.
Excellent team player and works independently with the ability to take on additional tasks.
Ability to work in demanding situations.
Other: Salary commensurate with experience. Initially, the contract shall be issued till March 2024,
which shall be renewed yearly thereafter, based on performance.
